About the programme

About the programme

Being a leading regional law firm in Tauranga, each year we gather a small number of dedicated Summer Clerks, heading towards their final year in study, to join one of our practice groups for the time they are with us.

Applications opened on the  7th of March, 2024, for our Summer Clerk Programme. The programme commences at the end of Semester 4 (November) and goes through until late February.

Our aim is to ensure our summer clerks get a variety of work and learn about how a law firm of our size works. The experience will provide an insight into all aspects of being a lawyer, including networking, practice management, legal research and client meetings.

Across our two offices in the Bay of Plenty and the Waikato, there are over 100 staff, including 57 lawyers and 9 partners.

Our staff tell us that we’re a good bunch to work for, but don’t take our word for it! We interviewed our people to get their first hand experience of what is like to be part of the Cooneys’ team.
